WHY?
I remember telling Greg a few years ago about the stage the boys went through when they were 3. The WHY stage. Everything you say, no matter what it is, they asked WHY? Then when you answered again more in depth they asked WHY? Then when you answered them again, they would ask WHY? It was exasperating to keep coming up with answers. I wanted to explain everything to them so they would understand, I didn't want to act like I didn't know WHY? I even bought a book with one million answers to questions. It didn't help, I never had the book with me when I needed it. Well, we have arrived at the WHY stage with Caroline. Out of no where, we were at Safeway and I said let's get strawberries. WHY Mommy? she asks. OH NO! I thought. No she didn't. Oh No I started panicking. I can't go through this again. IT LASTS FOREVER. I am going to be smarter this time. I am not going to be trapped in the never ending cycle. I WILL come up with the answer that will not have a Why comeback. I WILL! I answered because we love them. I waited, she does love them. How could she not agree with that. And in 1 second, she asked WHY Mommy? Because they are good for us. WHY? My heart started racing. How many answers can I come up with. I quickly placed the strawberries in the cart and rushed to the next aisle. Can I not answer? would that work. OH NO, NO WAY! Well, the rest of the day everything was WHY Mommy, later that evening, I said ask Daddy, then ask Rick, then ask Kent, then how about ask the dogs, NO WAY, Mommy. WHY Mommy. So this morning, she asked me WHY should she wear long sleeves. I answered because it is winter. She asked WHY Mommy? I got her this time...Why do YOU think Caroline? NO MOMMY NO, YOU WHY? I can't win. But she is so cute.

Before I had kids I totally judged parents that said things like "because I said so" or "because I'm the mommy".
Now I understand.
You are so right! Can't wait to see you on the 23rd!- Jan
Haha, oh man... we've been there. I just keep answering. I figure ONE DAY I'll wear her down.
Hasn't happened yet. These kids have iron wills!
