Caroline,
Yesterday we went to the Dr to have your 15 month checkup. The minute you had to lie down on the scale you started to cry. You knew what was up! You were measured and weighed to your dismay, and I kept telling you this was the OK part of the visit. You are 23 1/4 lbs (50%-75%) and 32 1/4 inches tall (90%). You continued to cry pointing to the door throughout the checkup. Dr.M was very impressed how smart you were that you remembered that 3 months ago you received the dreaded shots! He successfully checked you all over and you are a healthy, perfect toddler. Still crying, we mananged your shots and then chose a sticker and came home! You survived.....
This month you have continued to make us laugh and ooh and aahh at your talents. The whole family marches through the house playing our percussion instruments.
You hand one to each and every one of us and off we go. Even your brothers! Laughing and singing!
You have tried to color, you actually can hold
the crayon the correct way! You used fingerpaints,
and watercolors and you sticker everything in sight.
You retrieve your wipes and diaper when you need to
be changed and lay down on a blanket! You clean
everything. Last week, Daddy was in the bathroom and
you were exploring the bedroom, suddenly you walked
into the bathroom and grabbed a washcloth. Daddy
followed and there you were cleaning up a spill!
(Mommy had left a cup on the nightstand).
You eat with a fork and spoon, although the food makes
it to your mouth with the fork, with the spoon you
haven't mastered keeping it level and lose the corn,
etc, on the way. You have added 'please' to your
sign language along with 'more' and 'thank you'.
We can interpret pretty much everything you are
trying to tell us. Pretty much! When we can't, you
have now started to have a temper,
and like a 2 year old, sit down on the floor
and start to lay back. Where do they learn this?
Being a typical girl, you slowly, gently, fall backwards
so as not to hit your head!(or mess your hair)
It's pretty funny to watch and really hard not to laugh
while explaining that the paperback books on
the shelves look like great fun to throw around, but
I don't think the bookstore will appreciate it, and look
over there, look at all those solid books for you to play
with, No No you shake your head. These I want, not those!
(signing 'More More' the whole time).
But I must say 99.9% of the time, you are a happy
little girl, playing, reading your books to your dolls,
pushing the dolls around, feeding all the animals
(whether alive or fake) and enjoying yourself!
Always on the go, exploring and growing. I love it!
....and I thought this was worth posting again!
